Mill Lane Sidings is run by modellers for modellers on a not-for-profit basis – the
idea is to innovate and exploit new technology and design in UK N Gauge, just to
see what can be done! If I make any money, I plough it straight back into the next
It is mainly the work of myself, Richard Bardsley. It’s just part of my hobby and
it has to fit in alongside family and the ‘day job’.
I have been heavily involved with the N Gauge Society for 25 years and I am currently
the Chairman. I joined the Society in 1988 and first volunteered in the early 1990s
as one of the sub-shop keepers. In 2000 I joined the committee as Journal Manager
and held this post and that of Editor of the Journal for 13 years. I've been coordinator
of the Annual Model Making Competition as well as photographing the entries; the
project manager for a number of Society wagon kit projects; project manager for the
first Society RTR project, the Stove R; designed and created publicity such as leaflets
I have written a number of books on railway modelling and over 40 articles in the
model railway press, mainly Railway Modeller.
